If you want to get somewhere fast in Hong Kong your first choice should be the tube. If though, you want to see the city and the commuters and are in to being a part of the scene, then I recommend the mid level escalator.
To go from one end to the other takes about 20 minutes but it is fun. And you get to see things like this shot taken about mid way up the mid levels (does that make it quarter levels?).
